In recent years, many prizes have been awarded during the Dutch Dance Days festival. Both the famous Zwanen, also known as the 'Oscars' of Dutch dance, and the Prizes of the Dutch Dance Days, which give promising choreographic talent a boost by means of a financial contribution of € 10,000 to create new work.
The Swans (the VSCD Dance Prizes) have been awarded since 1983. Their aim is to honor the achievements of dancers who have made an exceptional artistic contribution to the dance field during the past season by bringing them to the attention of a large audience. Since 2003 the Swans have been associated with Festival de Nederlandse Dansdagen.
