This follow-up to the Dutch Dance Festival co-production Bloedbandeninvestigates the meaning of the blood band. We see various genera-tions of these conventional and unconventional families on the dance floor. Bloedbanden?demonstrates the role that dance and movement can have in the relationship between different family members and generations.
What are the stories that we daren’t talk about but which we are none - theless able to tell, not with words but with their body?
Every family has its own system. The experience of previous generations can determine how a family functions because of ingrained patterns of behaviour. What can dance elicit from people who have known each other all their lives? What is, literally and figuratively, their motivation? Can body language and skin contact make visible what cannot be defined? Not only for the performers, but for the audience?
