Last Saturday the second Dansspeld was awarded to Ton Wiggers. Tonight, the Founder and General Director of Introdans said goodbye to the company he led for the past 50 years in Stadstheater Arnhem. During the evening he was honored with several awards. Director of the Dutch Dance Days, Ronald Wintjens, presented the Dansspeld, a mark of merit within the Dutch dance field.
The Dansspeld, a sign of merit, is an award for people who have passed on knowledge, wisdom and experience within the Dutch dance field for decades. A symbol of continuity and cultural memory, pinned to a current moment and thus anchored for future generations. Ronald Wintjens director of the Dutch Dance Days: “With this we celebrate and honor the valuable meaning that a person has within the Dutch dance heritage. As co-founder of Introdans Ton Wiggers has made a memorable contribution to dance culture in the Netherlands and internationally. For decades he has used and transferred his knowledge, wisdom and experience within the Dutch Dance field, setting in motion a development that has had a crucial and lasting impact on the Dutch dance sector. A brilliant boost for a brilliant person.”
